Blog responsibly

I’ve removed Gizmodo from my RSS feed list because of one irresponsible post.
Apple’s magnetic Mag”Safe” connector on its Intel-based MacBook must be inappropriately named. How safe is a connector that bursts into flames with no provocation? This happened to a MacBook belonging to Rogier Mulder, who took pictures of the connectors and posted them on Flickr.
Adding insult to injury, soon thereafter Apple contacted Flickr and asked that the pictures be removed, and Flickr inexplicably complied with that “request.” But that didn’t work, Apple, because here are the pictures, right here. Anyway, Apple quickly attempted to make things right with Mulder:
“Apple support responded very well (thanks Klaas) and fast. Before I called our local Apple support line, the dutch engineers were already contacted by their US collegues (who saw the pics) to inquire if I already called in. I’m getting a new Macbook asap and I will return my current one.”
Maybe Apple should change the name of this product to the FireBook. It’ll be interesting to see how the Cupertino company spins this one. Your move, Apple.
Apple Censored Pics of Torched MacBook Power Connector [Wired] Gizmodo
What really happened? Apparently Rogier Mulder (the MacBook owner) was the one who gladly pulled down the images at Apple’s request! (Mulder also has cats around and there could have been spillage involved.)
I am sorry if you do not see the image(s) you might have expected to see. The reason for this is that Apple, after dealing with this issue, kindly requested me to remove the pictures at least until their engineers had a change to investigate this issue. Since Apple support has been very helpful and already is getting me a new Macbook asap, I’m happy to answer their request. For those whose immediate reaction is along the lines of ‘censorship’ and other big words: I don’t care. Mulder@flickr
Please read through everything before you post, Gizmodo! You have a huge number or readers (well, 1 less now) and for you to incite reactions with this post is very irresponsible. Your move, Gizmodo.

I believe Gizmodo has issued an apology but the question is, in the pursuit of “up-to-the-minute” news, when will be blogging responsibility step aside again?
