Go get an iMac

It’s the “coolest-looking desktop on the market”

In their weekly technology column for ABC News, Jonathan Blum and Dan Evans indicate that “the latest version of Apple’s iMac desktop definitely deserves to be one of our picks of the week. It is impressive from both a technical and design standpoint.” iMac, they say offers “a tasteful combo of black and gray aluminum that will make even the dullest cubicle or home office look cool.” What’s more, they believe that any consumer “looking to get going in the home media network thing—that is, storing and routing music and movies to TV screens around the home using a digital network—should consider the new iMac.” ABC News

It’s a slick machine for sure. I think one of the best desktop deals on the market. My friend just got a 24″, and I’m pretty jealous.

I have to say though… the design doesn’t feel as consistent as I think it should. The computer is aluminum and black gloss, which looks great. But then the keyboard is aluminum and white plastic… why not black plastic? Then the mighty mouse is all white, and the Frontrow remote is white with a black tip. I REALLY think Apple should have pulled the new aesthetic through to all of the included components, meaning black keys, a black mouse, and black remote.

Yes, I’m being picky, but that’s what the Mac experience is all about, having all of the small details in order. To me, that’s where the new iMac falls short.

You’re not being picky at all. I too am uncomfortable with the black in there. For me it should be: all aluminum, all white, or all black. Combinations of those result into a PC-like look.

Wait, maybe that’s done purposely to get more people feel at ease when they switch? lol
