Cell phones have had this for a long time. I've got an old Nokia that has this behind the battery. It has apparently gotten enough moisture on it to activate, since it's turned bright Pink. Pretty smart to put it at the end of the headphone jack like that, one of the few internal parts of the device(s) that can be accessed without cracking the unit open.
