There are bulky and buggy tablets out there, so are netbooks that are really small laptops -- IF Apple comes up with this device, they'll address problems plaguing the netbook market. BUT, this is just a rumor that all gadget sites have picked up by now. Let's just see what happens in a few days. What makes this rumor sound good (and the reason why I posted it) is the fact that Apple’s jumping into the netbook market but with Apple’s own unique product.

There are bulky and buggy tablets out there, so are netbooks that are really small laptops — IF Apple comes up with this device, they’ll address problems plaguing the netbook market.

BUT, this is just a rumor that all gadget sites have picked up by now.

Let’s just see what happens in a few days.

(The rumor, that is.) This reads as more "Apple needs to make a netbook because everyone else is" fantasizing. What do the iPhone and iPod Touch have in common now? That's right - a common platform, in terms of resolution and non-phone capabilities (assuming we count the proximity sensor as a "phone capability"). What would this monster have? A different resolution, that no other app that runs that platform (OSX for iPhone/Touch) has, playing bloody hell with app support. And it's not a phone, so nobody who wants an iPhone is going to buy it. I will make a hat out of fruit leather just to eat it, if Apple sells this product. I ain’t buyin’ that one.
